Birthday Calendar from Linda & Harriett

This is one of my absolute favorites from Linda & Harriett, though I love their beautiful calendars and notepads too. But the Birthday Calendar, is especially useful, for people like me and maybe some of you out there, who have a hard time keeping track of birthdays. Hang it up by your desk for a quick glance before you do your monthly birthday card shopping. Plus, the illustrations are beyond cute!

2011 Holiday Card Picks

Happy Friday morning! I've been quite busy lately designing and printing my first letterpress wedding suite and a few other small projects that I can't wait to share. Today I'd like to share some of my favorite picks for letterpress holiday cards this year.

Holiday cards should be sent the end of the first or beginning of the second week in December, depending on their destination. So grab some hot cider, a pretty pen and get those cards sent out!

Letterpress Printing on a Kelsey Tabletop Press

When I try to explain to people what letterpress is and why I love it so much, the conversation can become a bit confusing. So I decided to hire my boyfriend as a camera man for a mini video of how my tabletop press works. I am no pro at this by any means but it explains the basics of how this century old printing method works with a boxcar base and photo polymer plates.

You can see that each piece of paper is fed by hand (with love of course!) and no two prints will be exactly the same. Of course with larger presses with motors such as C&P's (like my friend Sarah's from InkPrint), you can crank out larger quantities and sizes at a much faster pace. Vendors that I scout out for my shop work on these larger presses but still put much time and care into each print, which is why I want to represent companies like this in my shop.

Hope you enjoy the video! (That's Savannah in the background chasing moths... my little printing pal)

Sugar Paper in the 100LC Pop-Up Shop

Have you seen the 100 Layer Cake Pop-Up Shop yet? If not, you're missing out on some amazing deals! Each week (or bi-week) the Pop-Up shop offers a sale from a featured vendor. This week is Sugar Paper, an LA-based stationer offering upscale letterpress stationery. I've swooned over the beautiful prints in the Sugar Paper shop many times but have never quite made it to the check-out, so I'm super excited to see them in the Pop-Up Shop this week. Yay for sales on pretty paper!

Sale on Sugar Paper ends this Friday at 6pm, don't miss out!

Father's Day Card Round-Up

Father's Day is right around the corner and I've got a nice round-up today of cards for Dad, starting with Fugu Fugu Press.

I love this moose card, reminds me of growing up in NH!

Festive Father's Day Stripes by Smock.

How much fun is this Thanks Pops card by Papillon Press? Dad will love it.

I think all Dad's have rocked a mustache at some point and Egg Press sums it up perfectly with their Sea of Moustaches card.

Sweet J'taime Papa card and Clever Prix Fixe card by Mr. Boddington's Studio.

For the Dad with a sense of humor and a liking for the green, get this Father's Day card from Old Tom Foolery.

National Stationery Show 2011

I'm back! The show was a-ma-zing. Seriously. I met so many vendors and designers, collected a TON of wholesale catalogs and pored over some really lovely invitation albums. Below are just a handful of booths I stopped by during my two days at the show.

Susy Jack! Susy was one of the nicest people I met at the show! I've loved her products since I first saw her at the 2007 show.

Smock, smock, SMOCK. Um, how about perfect? Yup, that sums it up. Lindsey, one of the sweet smock ladies, gave me a tour of the Smock and Bella Figura invitation albums (their sister company).

Knock Knock had some super cool products this year.

You may remember Rifle Paper Co. from my post including their heirloom recipe boxes. The pics online really don't do them justice, they're just gorgeous, along with the greeting cards, prints, calendars, wrap and fill-in invitations.

Early Monday morning we stopped by the Ladies of Letterpress booth for a breakfast and some mingling. I met Sarah Wymer of Studio SlowMo, down in Austin, TX. I got a peek at her stunning new wedding collection.

I love the global feel from the wedding collection by Fine Day Press. Beautiful boho style patterns are used as envelope liners. Also to drool over, the watercolor illustrated wall calendars.

Sat down at the Dauphine Press booth to see the new wedding collection.

Night Owl Paper Goods, known for their eco-friendly sustainably harvested wood stationery.

This is what I returned with. Yay! I'll be sharing more posts soon on my top picks for wedding collections I'd like to carry in my boutique.

Sneak Peek of my Business Cards

It is ab-so-lutely gorgeous outside this morning. Little bit of breakfast, little bit of sun, it really makes for a great start to the day. Annnd I have some show and tell for you today. The beginnings of my business cards! woohoo! I printed this dark dark grey yesterday. The second color will be a peachy pinky coral, you know, my favorite color. Can't wait to hand these babies out at the National Stationery Show. Happy weekend to you all!

Our Moving Announcements

I haven't even mailed these out yet but I'm super excited to show you, so here they are. I finished printing the moving announcements last Wednesday and picked up the papaya colored envelopes from Paper Source on Friday. I'm really pleased with the perfect color match! This is my absolute favorite color (and also the color of our dining room walls) so you'll see it pop up in my designs every now and then.

Happy Monday, Patriots Day, and congrats to all of the runners in the 115th Boston Marathon!

Letterpress Recipe Cards

Now that I'm a home owner and my kitchen is well, mine, I can make a huge mess (which I usually do) and feel OK with that. My latest impulse buys have been cook books, most recently D.I.Y. Delicious. I'm not like either of my parents who have the talent of throwing a bunch of things together with a heavenly outcome. Maybe someday, there's hope for me. So, with that said, my goal this year is to make, eat and enjoy more fresh, seasonal and homemade foods.

I printed these cards for my dearest Mama for her birthday, which was yesterday. But I just had to keep some for my own little recipe box. I'd like to print more of these, maybe in a few fun colors. What do you think?

Happy Birthday, Mum!

Today is my Mom's birthday! And what a great day to celebrate, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL outside. We're meeting her for dinner this evening and I have a little paper surprise for her which I'll share with you tomorrow. We don't want to ruin it, now do we?

John Barrett + Letterpress Things

Good morning everyone! I am blogging this morning from my NEW home! We are finally settled in and have internet, cable, furniture to sit on and we are slowly unpacking box after box. The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for me. Two Mondays ago I met with John Barrett of Letterpress Things to adjust my press and find out why I wasn't getting an even impression. John was so wonderful, I picked his brain for a few hours and snapped some photos of his immense collection of, well, letterpress things.

If you are interested in taking a letterpress workshop or need a press or supplies, check out Letterpress Things.
